Saudi Cement Company (SCC) is a Saudi Joint Stock Company established in 1955. The principal object of the Company is to produce cement, cement products and invest in cement related fields. SCC operate two cement plants in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The two plants, namely Hofuf Plant and Ain Dar Plant, are about 35 km apart and are both at an approximately equal distance of around 120-130 km from King Abdul Aziz Port at Dammam. Below is a brief history of the Company from its start of operations: A. SCC started operation in 1961 where one kiln of 300 tons of clinker per day was inaugurated at the Hofuf Plant. B. The Hofuf Plant since then has executed four expansions and/or renovations and upgrading of its facilities, the last of which, was in 1997 where a kiln of 3,500 tons of clinker capacity (kiln # 6) was added, bringing the total capacity of the plant to 7825 tons of clinker per day. C. The Ain Dar Plant, started as an independent Company under the name of “Saudi-Bahraini Cement Company” (SBC) back in 1981, where 4 kilns of 1,500 tons of clinker capacity each were inaugurated (total of 6000 tons of clinker per day) SBC continued its operations independently till December 31, 1991. As of January 1, 1992 “Saudi-Bahraini Cement Company” (SBC) merged with SCC and operations since then have continued under the old name of “Saudi Cement Company”. COMPANY » MANAGEMENT & MANPOWER SCC is being directed by an 11 members Board of Directors. The members of the board are all very prominent businessmen in Saudi Arabia, the Gulf and Internationally. The manpower in both Plants & Head Office in Dammam comprises of multi-nationalities. Manpower strength is adequate to the volume of activity at both Plants, Kilns Technology and the requirements of other related facilities.
