About Us
The origin of Al-Mouwasat dates back to 1975, with the launching of Al-Mouwasat Dispensary in Dammam - the first private medical clinic in that region. In 1979, Al-Mouwasat undertook the operation and the administration of the clinics in the residential area of Al-Jubail industrial city, through a 9-year operation contract amounting to more than SAR 400 million with Bektel Arab Co. and the Royal Commission for Al-Jubail and Yanbu. In 1984, Al-Mouwasat established its first owned comprehensive medical facility which was named Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Dammam. The construction cost of this project exceeded SAR 130 million, and actual operation started in 1988. This start is considered to be the real start of the Company and the corner stone which led to establishing other Al-Mouwasat medical facilities Kingdom-wide. Establishing Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Jubail was accomplished through two phases, the first phase witnessed completing the outpatient clinics, while the Company developed the inpatient department of the hospital in the second phase. Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Jubail is considered an ideal example for private sector hospitals due to its unique architectural design, its advanced medical supplies and equipment in use, and its operating efficiency. The year 2004 was a milestone in the history of Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Jubail as it achieved a utilization ratio of 100%. During 2000, the Company started operating Al-Mouwasat Medical Dispensary in Al-Ahsa, and Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Madina through a rental contract with a duration of twenty years. Also, the Company entered into an agreement with United Development Company Limited (SUDC) in 2003 to operate and administer Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Riyadh. Today, the medical network of Al-Mouwasat covers the main cities in the Kingdom including Dammam, Riyadh, Al-Qatif, Al-Khobar, Jubail, Madina, and Al-Ahsa. The Company strictly applies clear and specific standards, criteria, and procedures pertaining to operations and human resources. In addition, the Company adopts a clear strategy to continuously develop these standards, policies, and procedures through benefiting from the local and international experience in the medical field. Likewise, Al-Mouwasat undertakes a continuous advancement of its medical equipment and systems to bring them in line with international standards and up-to-date technology. Recently, Al-Mouwasat commenced a process to obtain certification from the American Joint Commission International (JCI) for its hospitals. The relevant procedures started for Al-Mouwasat hospital in Dammam, and in December 2006 the final requirements were completed and all prerequisites were met. Al-Mouwasat hospital in Dammam is the third JCI accredited hospital in the Kingdom. The company plans to obtain the JCI accreditation for its other hospitals. Al-Mouwasat believes that accreditation of Company's hospitals is another success that strengthens the Company's position in the healthcare industry in the Kingdom and will certainly add to its distinguished quality medical services.
